Dignity Justified is committed to contributing to the stories acknowledging the perseverance and contributions of African Americans. We use various categories of artifacts to share the history and perseverance of African Americans. If you, too, are interested in this effort and are interested in providing an object, please complete the form below to begin the process.

Dignity Justified does not limit our artifacts and collectibles to the categories listed below; however, we hope the list prompts your thinking about donating an item to contribute to efforts to provide lifelong learning of America’s cultural heritage.

  • African art and artifacts.

  • Slave related items-documents, newspapers, court records, maps, pictures, wills.

  • Abolitionist Era documents—Garrison, Douglass, etc.

  • Freedom Efforts, Revolts and Uprisings— Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman, John Brown, Nat Turner, etc.

  • Civil War items—art, newspapers and magazines (Harper’s Weekly, and art,

  • Voting Rights Initiatives—From Fannie Lou Hammer to John Lewis to Stacey Abrams.

  • Black Lives Matter Movement: art, posters, flyers, etc.

  • Items related to the Black Panther Party, photographs, documents and newspapers.

  • Racist items—books, art, postcards, figurines, dolls. This is a broad, ever reaching category vintage category.

  • Movie and television related materials—scripts, posters—past and contemporary, including blaxploitation (think Richard Roundtree in Shaft and Pam Grier in Coffy)

  • Graphics and Cartoons—newspapers, comics, tv, film, toys, anime and puppetry.
